Retired Adm. Thomas B. Fargo, former head of the U.S. Navy Pacific Command, has been named president of Trex Enterprises, effective immediately.
Fargo will continue as chairman of two of Trex’s subsidiaries, Sago Systems, Inc. and Loea Corporation.
Trex has a Lihu’e office.
Trex Enterprises is a diversified, high-technology firm focused on products and solutions related to homeland security, defense and wireless communications.
“Admiral Fargo is a strategic thinker and a visionary who has the depth to continue growing Trex Enterprises,” said Dr. Kenneth Y. Tang, chairman and chief executive officer of Trex Enterprises. “He is also a man of great integrity with a wealth of experience.”
Fargo works full-time from Trex’s Honolulu office, overseeing the strategic path for Trex Enterprises. He also plays an instrumental role in building the company’s subsidiaries, Tang said.
Trex employs 65 professionals full-time on Maui, Kaua’i and O’ahu, while more than 100 other professionals work in the San Diego, New Mexico and Massachusetts offices.
“It is exciting to be working with so many talented individuals who have created revolutionary technologies,” said Fargo. “We are now commercializing our core products, which makes it an exciting time for us as we grow and penetrate our perspective markets.”
Fargo joined Trex in March of this year as executive vice president, following a long career in the U.S. Navy and the Department of Defense.
Fargo served as commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, directing all operations of the Army, Navy, Marine Cops and Air Force throughout the Pacific, East Asia and the Indian Ocean.
He was responsible to the president and the secretary of defense as the U.S. military representative for collective security arrangements in the Pacific.
Established in 1978, San Diego-based Trex Enterprises is a government-contract, research-and-development firm, with focus on dual-use (military and civilian) technology development.
