This season in the Kaua’i Pop Warner Football League has seen many blowouts and a few close calls, but nonetheless, the contests seem to be heating up with each week that passes by.
Here are last weekend’s results:
Kapa’a trounced Northshore in a JPW game, 30-0, behind scoring from Treston Brede (4 yard run), Waika Alapai (64, 26 yard TD receptions from Keane Agoot), Agoot (3 yard run), and Edsel Lactaotao (8 yard run).
In the midgets contest, Northshore turned the tables on Kapa’a, 18-6. Luther Yam (4 yard run), Kameron Contrades (68 yard TD reception from Yam), Vaughn Nebre (48 yard fumble return TD), and Kekoa Prem (1 yard run) notched scores for the Na Ali’i. Kekaha forfeited its game against Kapa’a in pee wee action.
Meanwhile, in JPW results, Hanapepe nosed past Kekaha, 19-6. Mikeo Rita (30 yard TD run), Keoni Ana (6 yard run), and Derek Callejo (38 yard INT TD) accounted for the scores. Alika Emayo ‘s 93 yard fumble return TD was Kekaha’s only score. Ana’s pass to Nohili Kahepu’u added two points to the Hanapepe total.
The Kekaha midgets edged Hanapepe, 16-0, thanks to TD’s from Kailan Malama (61 yard run) and Max Agor (4 yard run). Jared Fernandez kicked both two-point conversions.
Koloa ran past Lihu’e in a JPW game, 14-7. Caleb Licke scored on runs of 14 and 22 yards for Koloa. Bryan Haz managed to cross the goal line on a 90 yard run for Lihu’e. Micah Chow’s pass to Beau Kohatsu gave Lihu’e a point. Hoku Yamaguchi’s safety added two points to Koloa’s tally.
Lihu’e’s pee wee squad nailed down Koloa, 31-16.
Darren Acoba (24 yard run), Kalen Kimura (34 yard TD reception from Taran Tani), Kekoa Augustin (5 yard run), and Tani (36 yard run) scored for the Patriots.
Tanner Rivera (11 yard run) and Clifton Callejo (63 yard run) scored Koloa’s TD’s. Tani kicked three two pointers. Kimura notched an extra point run. Dallas Correa kicked both of Koloa’s two pointers.
There is just one more week of regular season play to go in the league.
Then it’s the Charity Bowl games on Nov. 19. Kaua’i will host the pee wee playoff at Hanapepe Stadium on Nov. 26.
