Leaders at ResortQuest Hawaii, formerly Aston Hotels & Resorts, have named Stephanie Iona general manager of the ResortQuest Waimea Plantation Cottages in Waimea. A 30-year hospitality-industry veteran, Iona was named Manager of the Quarter by ResortQuest Hawaii officials in 2003.
Leaders at ResortQuest Hawaii, formerly Aston Hotels & Resorts, have named Stephanie Iona general manager of the ResortQuest Waimea Plantation Cottages in Waimea.
A 30-year hospitality-industry veteran, Iona was named Manager of the Quarter by ResortQuest Hawaii officials in 2003.
She joined ResortQuest Hawaii in 2002 after running a catering service she co-owned that served both the Ko’olau Golf Club and the Luana Hills Golf Club.
She was also previously general manager of the Alana Waikiki, and has served on the boards of various organizations, including Aloha Week Festivals, Ulupalakua Thing, and the Aloha State Games.
A grandmother of 10, Iona attended Sacred Hearts Academy and the University of Hawai’i at Manoa.
Set amid a 27-acre coconut grove, ResortQuest Waimea Plantation Cottages is a unique, oceanfront resort featuring restored historic sugar-plantation cottages that capture the feeling of the island’s sugar-plantation-era living at its best, she said.
With 61 cottages ranging from hotel rooms and one-bed-room cottages to the five-bed-room manager’s house, ResortQuest Waimea Plantation Cottages is a blend of old and new Hawai’i, she said.
Ambitious expansion plans are expected to get underway soon, extending the resort in the direction of the Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor.
Waimea Plantation Cottages is along Kaumuali’i Highway across from Waimea Canyon Park. On the grounds is the Waimea Brewing Company lounge and restaurant.
