Grandopening ceremonies were held at the center, located at the old Immaculate Conception School site in Isenberg Tract subdivision.
Guided by grandmaster Hong Liu, officials at the Qi Center strive to serve members of the community by providing them the tools necessary for “radiant wellness,” through community-based training and ongoing education in complementary healing practices, they said.
There are now two Qi Center locations in the state, with another being on O’ahu.
Members of a large crowd turned out for the Lihu’e Qi Center grand opening, presided over by Hong.
Leaders of his Natural Healing Research Foundation started the Lihu’e Qi Center, with a vision to offer specific programs for diseases most prevalent in Hawai’i, including diabetes, heart disease, lung disease and cancer; advancing general health education and wellness programs, addressing longevity and obesity; providing humanitarian support with free services for the elderly, Native Hawaiians and children; presenting lectures and workshops on diseases, treatment approaches and general health, to raise public awareness of important issues affecting the Hawaiian people; and more.
Looking forward, Qi Center and Natural Healing Research Foundation leaders plan to develop a world-class retreat center, possibly on Kaua’i, whose operators will offer health and wellness programs.
The Qi Center is the physical expression of the vision of Hong, who is considered a living treasure in Hawai’i and China, Qi Center officials said.
Hong established the Natural Healing Research Foundation to integrate proven, natural-healing practices with conventional medicine to address global health issues.
The Qi Center is a vital part of his vision, he said.
The Qi Center provides a venue where members of the community are able to participate in this system of natural-healing practices for prevention, healing and rejuvenation, Hong said.
The Qi Center’s leaders provide seminars on a broad range of health issues, as well as classes for community members.
In the future, there will be special free classes for children and the elderly. Humanitarian-wellness programs, similar to the center’s asthma event, will continue, they said.
The Qi Center is a place where community members may gather to enhance their individual well being, as well as assisting others in their search for a healthier life, they said.
The center motto is “Providing the tools to build a healthier tomorrow.”
To reach the Qi Center, turn off Kuhio Highway at ‘Ehiku Street (where Cingular Wireless is located), then take the fourth right turn, at Kanakolu Street.
