KAPA‘A — Kaua‘i pitcher Ku‘ulei Manintin quieted Warrior bats in her five innings of work for the 9-1 win over Kapa‘a last night at the Warriors’ home field.
Darcie Allianic completed two innings of work and Manintin was brought in for relief for the remaining five frames.
The win improved Kaua‘i’s record to 3-1 and Kapa‘a dropped to 0-6. The Menehune (4-0) await the Red Raiders on Saturday, with the KIF first-round title on the line. A Waimea split will hand them the first-round honors. The first of the two contests will start at 10 a.m. at Isenberg Field.
Last night though, Kaua‘i’s bats were hot, with help from Allianic (2-3, 2 runs), Wailana Borrero (3-4, 2 RBI’s), Randi Oketani (1-4), Jessica Iwata (1-4, 1 RBI), Manintin (1 run), and Angela Kirchner (2-4, 1 run, 1 RBI). The Red Raiders pounded out 13 hits, while committing no errors.
For the Warriors, Jocelyn Enrique (1 hit), Amber Pigao (1 hit), and Ella Arume (RBI) led the way at the plate. Chasare Labuguen pitched six innings for the Warriors and Stephanie Kawamura pitched in for the final inning. The Warriors tallied one error on the evening.
