Last month, sons Anthony Vea, Howard Vea and Edwin Vea honored their parents, Carlos and Flora Vea, at a very special, golden-wedding-anniversary party. The scene was Wong’s Restaurant in Hanapepe, and nonstop entertainment was provided by friends and family members.

Family and friends from Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Hilo on the Big Island, and San Francisco, Washington state and New York state on the really big island, came to help celebrate the milestone.
Edwin Vea and Wilfred Mendonca were the night’s emcees, and special performances were offered by the celebrants’ granddaughter Alyssa Vea and great-grandson Kalen Games, Mr. and Mrs. Clem Ceballos, Sharon Leoiki and company, and Carlina Vea, Lourdes Domingo and Florentina Moreno.
Centerpieces were made by Mickey and Margie Alisna. Lei for family members were made by Adela Ochinang. Special, large photos taken over the past 50 years were on display.
Special toasts were made by granddaughter Alicia Vea, brother in law Ernesto Carbonel, and the bride’s brother, Francisco Ramos.
Dance music was provided by Dickie Hamada, Danny Hamada and The Starlighters, before Dickie Hamada passed away. Carlos Vea was drummer for the group for over 20 years.
The celebratory evening ended with Flora and Carlos Vea thanking their guests for helping them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, family members said in a press release.
