Online poll reveals Seattle the team to beat
By Duane Shimogawa Jr. – The Garden Island
Seventy of you managed to vote online at www.kauaiworld.com for the team most likely to make it to Superbowl XL.
And after the final vote was tallied, the Seattle Seahawks edged out Denver by one vote to be your choice as the team to beat.
Seattle gathered up 23 votes for 33-percent, followed by Denver with 22 votes (31-percent), Pittsburgh with 21 votes (30-percent), and Carolina with four votes (6-percent).
We even got a long distance vote from Gilbert Furtado Jr., who is now living in Youngstown, Ohio.
The former Waimea resident is a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan and so is his son, so they were extremely happy to see the Steelers’ win over Denver last weekend.
Furtado mentioned that Ho’okanos, Kuapahis, and Taniguchis are all related to him.
Gilbert’s grandfather used to live on Robinson’s ranch.
Superbowl XL will be played on Feb. 5 in Detroit, between Seattle and Pittsburgh.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next online sports poll, by checking out www.kauaiworld.com.
