Teams from Lihu‘e, Kapa‘a, and Waimea are learning great values from the Kaua‘i Junior Olympics Girls Softball League.
The 10-and-under participants know who is winning and losing, but that’s not a priority for the league.
“At this age group, everyone wins because everyone learns the game. It’s great development for the young girls,” Panthers assistant coach Chlorie Igne said.
Besides the Panthers, there are a couple of teams from Lihu‘e, a Waimea squad, and a Kapa‘a team.
“Its hard to explain to them who’s winning. They actually know, but they’re having so much fun out there, it really doesn’t matter to them,” Igne said.
Waimea and Lihu‘e “K” battle today at noon in Hanapepe. On Wednesday, Lihu‘e “E” jousts with Kapa‘a at Isenberg Field, starting at 5:30 p.m. The season ends on Wednesday, June 7.
“They’ve learned so much and they’re getting better and now the season’s almost over,” Igne said.

Aribon trounces
the competition
Reggie Aribon was unbeatable on Sunday, May 21 in Garden Isle R/C racing action at the Big K-Mart parking lot.
Aribon drove his nitro powered car exceptionally flawless and took top qualifier of the day and top honors. Bongie Gorospe and Earl Balai also took top honors in their respective divisions.
Seth Morales, Wendell Esposo, and Roland Ruiz rounded out the top four in the 4wd nitro A contest. Noel Udaundo, Aaron Arizo, and Dennis Ginez followed up Gorospe in the 4wd nitro B race.

Asthma sports camps accepting registrations
The American Lung Association is accepting applications for both participants and volunteers for its 2006 Asthma Sports Day Camps. The camps are three-day clinics in which children ages 5-12 participate in a variety of activities while learning how to cope with their asthmatic condition. The Kaua‘i camp will be held at the Kaua‘i Community College campus from July 21-23. Call 245-4142 for more information.
