Kaua‘i’s youth rodeo champions are heading up to the National Jr. High School Rodeo Championships in Gallup, NM, from July 10-15.
But getting there will take some help from you.
Qualifiers include Shawn “Kalani” Grace (3 events), Marcus “Allen” Shimogawa (4 events), Kelli Carveiro (5 events), and Cory Carveiro (3 events).
“They need to raise a tremendous amount of funds to help them win national titles,” Kaua‘i Keiki and High School Rodeo Association spokeswoman Roseanne Shimogawa said.
Expenses include horse and equipment rental, airfare, hotel accommodations and car rental.
“Family and friends of these cowboys and cowgirl would like to humbly ask for the community’s support of these representatives of Kaua‘i and Hawai‘i,” Shimogawa said.
So far, a few fundraisers have been earmarked by the association.
