Jerry Hill didn’t have his photographer’s vest when he greeted Ed Scholes of England Saturday. Jerry was one of the leaders for the Kaua‘i Amateur Radio Club’s Field Day, and Ed learned about it before getting here, but put it on his list of things to check out.
Bob Anderson was supposed to return following the Red Cross emergency shelter training, and Alfred Darling said he dropped off supplies before getting to the training (was nice to meet Eve Solomon’s sister Ester) at Wilcox Elementary School.
Hats off to Trini Naea on a nice Kekaha gathering! It was a good opportunity to watch the sun set out West and Mayor Bryan Baptiste took in that gathering before getting to the bon dance at the Hanapepe Soto Zen.
Congratulations to Shinichiro Eguchi, Kozue Nishizuka, Hiroko Abe, Hisashi Sato and Hanako Sato of the Kaze taiko team for doing such a great performance … they even got Nori Itagaki to join them for one of the encore numbers. Carol Ann Davis had her Canon 5D on line for this performance and showed off some of the “almost 13 megapixel” files. Mahalo to Lyle Kobashigawa who offered to give up his seat so we could get photos, and if Lyle is around, so is Kura Hirokawa. Pat Baniaga was at the bon dance (Ashley Nonaka had a great second pitch, but came up empty on ball three at the ball throw booth) and is already anticipating the start of the Bronco tournament later this week … Teddy Pereira came to make sure the fields were OK following the Waimea/North County Xtreme softball game Friday.
