Kaua‘i residents will get the latest scoop on the quality of the drinking water in their area during June.
The county Department of Water is mailing out annual water quality reports to all households this month. There is a report available for each of Kaua‘i’s 13 water systems.
The federal Safe Water Drinking Act requires water utilities to provide customers with water quality information every year. The reports contain basic information on the source(s) of water, the levels of contaminants in the water and compliance with other drinking water rules, as well as some brief educational materials.
Kaua‘i’s water meets all of the Environmental Protection Agency’s guidelines for Safe Drinking Water, DOW officials state in a press release. Any contaminants found were well below the highest levels allowed by the EPA, they said.
The water quality information in the report is also available online at www.kauaiwater.org.
