KALAHEO — Ariel Lahip scored more points than his age as the tiny Westsider netted 20 points, the best score of the night, to lead Kaulupono to a 38-25 win over Papalina Friday.
Lahip got help from Kaili Lagundino, who added 10 points to the Kaulupono tally. P.J. Oligo also contributed eight points in the ZZ/Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i Boys 12 Under Youth basketball league.
Brandon Palacio finished with 10 points to lead the Papalina effort followed by Galen Bostick adding nine in the first of two games.
The veteran duo of Keoni Kinize and Keane Agoot combined for 29 points to lead Eastside to a 43-17 showing over the Kaua‘i Fire Raiders in the second game.
Kinize finished with 19 points, followed by Agoot’s 10 points. Johnathan Crago aided the win with eight and Kapana Thronas-Kahoonei netted four. Kaawa Solomon chipped in a pair.
Michael Curnan topped the Fire Raiders’ effort with 10 points, followed by Aeron Inouye’s five marks and Marcus Brown’s pair.
The Boys 12 and Under league closes first-round play today and enters the final round of play Wednesday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
