Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor is sponsoring a two-day basketball mini-camp at Kilauea Gym, from July 24 to 25.
The event is open to all boys and girls, ages 9 to 17. Adults interested in having fun and learning as they assist or coach are welcome to attend.
This camp is being led by former professional basketball players, including world famous Harlem Globetrotter Sherwin Durham. This camp will focus on basketball team fundamentals and skills and how to apply the same skills and motivations to help camp attendees reach any goal in life. The camp fee is $40. Camp fee scholarship funds are readily available (no qualifications, just ask).
Open registration is on Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon at Kilauea Gym. An information-filled brochure and registration form are available at any Calvary Chapel on the island, downloadable from www.calvarychapelnorthshore.com, at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center Gym or from the Boys and Girls Club of America Clubhouses in Kapa‘a and Anahola.

Kaua‘i Motocross
races this Sunday
Kaua‘i’s Motocross Super Race Series continues Sunday at the Wailua Motocross Track.
The Kaua‘i Motocross Riders Association event features racers from all around the island.
Registration forms may be picked up at Two Wheels in Waipouli, Suzuki Kaua‘i in the Puhi Industrial Park or on the KMRA Web site at www.thekmra.com. Entry fee is $25 for pre-registration or $30 the day of the event. Classes for the event include minis, wahine, pit bikes, 65, 85, 125, 250, TT, vets, masters and quads.
Class champions will receive a huge trophy and a No. 1 plate.

Garden Isle MMA Cage Match No. 4 heads west
The fourth installment of the Garden Isle’s Cage Match heads to Hanapepe Stadium on Aug. 5.
The Friday before, Aug. 4, at Kuku‘i Grove, there will be a special weigh-in ceremony, starting around 5:30 p.m., which is open to the public free of charge.
Tickets for the cage match are now for sale at the following locations: Hair Razors (Lihu‘e), Meyvn Skate Shop (Lihu‘e), Tropical Tantrum (Kapa‘a), Dynamic Tinting (Puhi), Progressive Expressions (Koloa), Sweet and Sassy (‘Ele‘ele), Quicksilva’s Gym (Hanama‘ulu), Wong’s Restaurant (Hanapepe), Tutu’s Cafe (Kalaheo) and M&H Repair (Waimea).
General admission tickets are $25 and $30 at the door. Ringside seats are $35. Doors for the event open at 5 p.m.
Hawai‘i junior
golfers eliminated
The last two Hawai‘i entries in the U.S. Junior Amateur, Tadd Fujikawa of Honolulu and Sean Maekawa, Pa‘auilo, were eliminated yesterday.
Fujikawa, the 15 year-old from Honolulu who played in the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, beat Tyler Ichikawa of Los Altos, Calif., 1 up in the second round before falling to Andrew Putnam of University Place, Wash., 3 and 2 in the third.
