County Department of Finance officials are reminding Kaua‘i property owners that the first installment of real property taxes for the 2006-07 tax year are due Aug. 20.
According to a press release from the office of Michael Tressler, director of finance, payments can be made by mail, in person or through a drop box located outside the Lihu‘e Civic Center’s Kapule Building. Checks should be made payable to the Director of Finance.
According to county officials, real property tax bills were recently mailed to all Kaua‘i property owners or their respective servicing agents.
Property owners who pay their real property taxes directly and have not received their property tax bills should contact the Real Property Tax Collection office in Suite 463 of the Kapule Building on Rice Street or call 241-6555, the release states.
Failure to pay real property taxes by the due date will result in an assessment of a 10 percent penalty, as well as 12 percent interest per year.
