The first event went so well, it was evident another one was needed.
The second installment of the North Shore Couples Golf Tournament is set for Sunday at the Princeville Makai Golf Course.
“We had about 30 people in our first tournament,” said event co-organizer Nancy Lindeman.
Lindeman and Sue Doyle founded the event and asked Princeville Golf Course’s Eric Belmonte to help them out.
“Last time we didn’t use handicaps,” Lindeman said. “We wanted it to be fun; even the last-place team got money back.”
Lindeman said she didn’t want to discourage any teams from coming back to golf in the next event.
“We wanted to give them incentive to join us again,” she said. “The whole point is to make it for fun and to just have a good time.”
Lindenman said new faces are a big part of the fun, and last time there were several newcomers.
“There’s men’s and women’s clubs on the island — we just want to get different people to come out.”
For $5 a person, there are ample prizes and a closest to the pin prize.
“You don’t have to be a couple to enter,” Lindeman said. “We even coupled singles.”
The event is so informal, a post-tournament menu has yet to be set.
“We may have pupus afterwards,” Lindenman said.
