Kaua‘i, the 3-time defending KIF champions, will be the first team in the league to kick off preseason action.
The Red Raiders battle Kea‘au on the Big Island tonight.
“I go into preseason games with a very constructive point of view,” Kaua‘i head coach Keli‘i Morgado said. “We’re looking to answer as many questions as we can.”
Winning and losing preseason games don’t really matter to the Red Raiders.
“We like to put guys in places where they want to be or where we need them,” Morgado said. We’ll try to find solutions and next week’s game is about finding a depth chart.”
So far, Red Raider camp is moving slowly and Morgado said he has higher expectations.
“It’s a learning process,” he said. “I don’t think we’re where we need to be.”
Waimea and Kapa‘a begin preseason action Saturday. The Menehune host Waiakea at Hanapepe Stadium, and the Warriors battle HPA on the Big Island.
