POI‘PU — Marti Snyder was edged out of the top slot of 3D Barrels by two-hundredths of a second by Tami Yamamoto, but rebounded to control the Steer Undecorating event enroute to earning All Around Cowgirl honors at the Kaua‘i All Girls Rodeo Association state championships Sunday.
Snyder finished the barrels event at 17.87 below Tami Yamamoto’s 17.85 in the first division of that competition.
Third-place finisher Corrina Schumacher tripped the clock at 18.09 as she continued on the road earning her Reserve All Around honors at the event held at the CJM Country Stables in Poi‘pu.
Lily Bertelsen topped the 2nd division with a 19.37 go followed by Cheree Rapozo-Vasconcelles (19.41), Shan Mundon (19.49) and Laureen Naumu-Balocan (19.52).
KAGRA president Nancy McMahon topped the third division on a 20.97 go followed by Rapozo-Vasconcelles (21.04) and Shantel Wong (21.46).
Following Snyder in the Steer Undecorating, Naumu-Balocan (6.58), Coralyn Murayama (7.61) and Schumacher (8.57) filled in the leader board of that event.
Wendy Tannery zipped to a 21.695 first finish in the first division of the 3D Pole Bending event followed by Yamamoto and Snyder at 22.652 and 23.312 finishes, respectively.
Rapozo-Vasconcelles topped the second division at 25.245 and Penny Miranda headed up the third division on a 25.904 go.
Miranda was followed by Apryl Soares and Bertelsen on 26.836 and 26.942 times, respectively.
Miranda teamed up with Kristine Sugai to capture the top slot of the Dally Team Roping event on a 41.55 average.
Kristine Sugai and Rapozo-Vasconcelles took the second place followed by Snyder and Soares capturing third on 78.35/2 and 12.79/1 runs.
Kim Medeiros toppes the Goat Tying event with a fast 24.80/2 finish followed by Kelli Carveiro (31.27/2), Kristine Sugai (31.73/2), Grace Bertelsen (32.68/2) and Snyder (33.35/2).
Lily Bertelsen edged out Schumacher for the top slot in Breakaway Roping on a 12.50/2 over Schumacher’s 12.97/2 finish.
Carveiro (15.05/2), Shantel Wong (17.61/2), Kassie Wong (20.47/2), Coralyn Murayama (26.18/2) and Tannery (21.10/2) filled in the leader board for that event.
Sisters Kristine and Kapua Sugai teamed up to top the Wahine Mugging event on a 22.36 go followed by teams of Soares and McMahon (25.97), Carveiro and Julie Akita (27.70), Kassie Wong and Schumacher (29.60) and Snyder and Tannery (30.51).
