WAILUA — Kaylee Tamura fired off the left wing and slipped the ball past the goalie late in the first half Sunday.
Kaylee and the Hawaiian Heat broke open a 0-0 defensive slugfest en route to a 3-0 win over the Lihu‘e Heat in U10 Kaua‘i Soccer Association Seven-a-Side league play.
“For some of the girls, this is their third game today,” said Mari Chan, Hawaiian Heat assistant coach.
“They’re tired so they were playing kind of flat. Some of them go on to play another game, too.”
As the defensive contest raged throughout the second half, Sha‘Tres Ah Nee and Wailana Gandeza managed to score against the persistent orange-shirted Heat.
The Lihu‘e Heat worked hard to get shots off, but were repeatedly thwarted by the Hawaiian Heat goalie, who stopped several powerful Lihu‘e shots with spectacular saves.
