A pair of 920 games and a 2,610 pinfall gave the Kaua‘i High School boys their second straight victory in KIF bowling Saturday. The win earned the Raider men one standings point after picking up seven game points for two firsts and a second place. With the win, Kaua‘i has two points in the standings.
The Red Raider wahine dropped more pins than Kapa‘a, but the Warrior wahine earned the one standings point for first place overall. Kaua‘i girls finished with a first and a second before getting first in total pinfall for their five total game points.
Kapa‘a finished the day with two first finishes and a second place for six total game points to get their win. With the win, Kapa‘a moves to 1.5 point in team standings after splitting with Kaua‘i in last week’s opener.
Waimea again played the role of spoiler in game two by coming up just a pin short of Kapa‘a (694) to get the second-place point on 693. Kaua‘i finished with 674 for third place.
Mershelle Rivera finished game two with 178 to lead the Menehune effort, this game being the first game Rivera bowled on the day. She was followed by Syanne Sagawa rolling 147, Tiffany Lum finishing two pins back at 145, Jana Shaffer closing at 121 and Bing Xi Sun rounding out at 102.
Jerald Colobong (160-190-247-597) and Jessie Duarte (186-172-171-529) were the only two Kaua‘i boys who bowled all three games to lead the Kaua‘i effort. Following the pair, Joseph Aurelio (238-132-370), Ian Ho (-157-157-314) and Johnny Ruaboro (176-119-295) posted the next highest scores in their three-game series.
Waimea closed with four game points after posting a first and second place finish and got second in total pinfall.
Anthony Baptiste rolled a 189 to lead Waimea to their first finish in game two. He was followed by Kelli Gonsalves (188), Kekoa Masuda (181), Donn Villanueva (150) and Harold Shimono Jr. (137), Shimono’s score in that game being declared as not counting in the overall season individual standings.
Rosie Ebinger led the way for the Kapa‘a women with a 452 (141-190-121) total over three games. Jean Manibog (153-127-166-446), Mindi Agena (162-138-116-416), Marissa Agena (137-123-127-387) and Rachel Arii (140-116-121-377) were the other Kapa‘a girls who helped in the Warrior scoring.
Noelle Campos (186-166-175-527) topped the Kaua‘i effort. She was followed by Sarah Duterte (160-130-151-441) and Annie Padasadao (158-142-111-411). Aimee Palaroan rolled two games (131-144) for a 275 and Kathleen Cadiente added 261 (105-156) in two games.
KIF bowling enters its third week of competition Saturday at the Lihu‘e Bowling Center starting at 2 p.m.
