Senior teams win USTA League Section Championships
More than 35 teams from the Hawai‘i Pacific Section/United States Tennis Association advanced to the national championship round of the largest adult recreational tennis league in the world by winning the USTA League presented by Chrysler Hawai‘i Section Championships, held last week at various Kaua‘i tennis courts.
The men’s competition took place at the Kiahuna Swim & Tennis Club, Poipu-Kai Tennis Center and at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa Tennis Gardens. For a list of the advancing teams, see today’s Scoreboard on B2.
Westside Wrestling hosts Greco-Roman clinic
Willie Madison will be teaching Greco-Roman and some Freestyle from June 20 through 22 and be around to help Brandon Slay teach his second annual Westsude Wrestling clinic on June 23 at Waimea High School.
The Greco-Roman clinic sessions include a two-on-one series, under-hook series, duck-under series, set ups to arm spin, set ups to body lock and more. The Freestyle clinic will include single and double leg series, leg laces and gut wrench offense and defense.

NFL/HHSAA team up for development clinic
The NFL and Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association will host the Junior Player Development clinic for boys and girls ages 12 to 14 years old, at ‘Aiea High School, 4 to 6 p.m. from June 18 to 22.
The JPD program is an introductory youth tackle football program designed to teach participants skills in various football positions. Participants receive instruction from NFL-selected, local high school coaches.
All participants are required to complete a waiver and medical form in order to participate. Forms are available on the HHSAA Web site, www.sportshigh.com, and at the ‘Aiea High School main office. Completed forms must be received by Coach Wendell Say of ‘Aiea High School by Friday, June 15.
Equipment will be issued to participants beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the ‘Aiea High School football stadium.

Kekaha Pop Warner opens tackle football registration
The Kekaha Pop Warner Association started its open registration for the 2007 Tackle Football and Spirit program earlier this week. Registration will continue through the month of June on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Kekaha Ball Park food booth.
Participants interested in registering for the programs need to bring copies of their birth certificate and medical insurance card.
