Eight members of the Waimea PONY Baseball team have been named to the Kaua‘i PONY All-Stars who will represent the island at the PONY Regional Tournament in Hilo July 12 to 16.
Waimea won the island title with an 11-8 win over Lihu‘e in a marathon 13-inning outing last week under the broiling Waimea sun.
The announcement for the all-star selections was made by Dondi Viquelia, one of the Kaua‘i PONY Baseball leaders, after team coaches met following the title game.
Heading the list for Waimea are Dylan Ishihara, Steven Werner, Jamen Keola Requer-Yorkman, Jordan Kitabayashi, Ioane Toyofuku, Tanner Fernandez and Camden Nakashima.
Taryn Tani and Shea Shimabukuro were selected from the Lihu‘e team.
Gavin Jardin is the selection from the Kekaha squad who joins Kaimana Perreira-Alquiza of the Hanapepe team.
Vinda Carineo of Hanapepe and Kahai Hosaka of Kekaha round out the all-star team which will be coached by Isaac Castillo.
Guy Ishihara is the team manager and Jon Nakashima is the team business manager.

The Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association is accepting applications for membership for junior golfers of all play
