Leialoha Kuapahi, Sr. of Waimea died at his home on Sept. 12, 2007, at the age of 69.
Born in Waimea on July 25, 1938, he is survived by his wife Arlene Kuapahi; sons Leialoha (Amy) Kuapahi Jr. of Oak Harbor, Wash., Oric (Katie) Kuapahi of Kekaha, Klaine (Kawai) Kuapahi of Waimea, Ivan (Monica) Kuapahi of Tucson, Ariz. and Dana Kuapahi of Hanapepe; daughters, Myranda (Albert) Kuapahi of Waimea, Keala (Steve) Werner of Hanapepe and Leona (Harlen) Fragas of Hilo; 17 grandchildren; brothers, George (Malia) Kahalekomo of Makaweli and Matule Kahalekomo of Honolulu; sister Jennie Keuma of Waimea; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; hanai children Nephi Gonzales, Napua Koani, Bully (Desi) Koani and Kapu Koani, all of Honolulu.
Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel. Casual attire is suggested.

Antonio Etrata Manzano Sr. of Kapa‘a died at his home at the age of 80.
Born May 12, 1927, in the Philippines, he was a groundskeeper.
He is survived by his wife Angelina Manzano of Kapa‘a; children Gloria (Jimmy) Valdez of Kapa‘a, Vicky (Jovencio) Escalina of the Philippines, Virginia (Julius) Yacas of Washington, Charing (Floriano) Gacula of the Philippines, Lorlina (Timothy) Aquino of Washington, Mercedea (Patricio) Matiar of Washington, Corazon (Yamane Obedoza) Manzano of Washington, Antonio Manzano Jr. of Mississippi, and Ronnie (Jeannette) Manzano of Kapa‘a; sisters Trinidad Dela Cruz of Kapa‘a, Marcelina Panit of Kapa‘a, Felomina Manzano of the Philippines, Emilia Cera of Kapa‘a and Leonora (Claudo) Asirero of Kapa‘a; brother Romuto (Nelly) Manzano of Kapa‘a; 17 grandchldren, five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept 28, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa and again from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Catherine Church Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Zenaida Manguchei
Zenaida Agmata Manguchei of Kapaa died on Sept. 5, 2007, at the age of 58. Born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Aug. 23, 1949, she was a clerk for the County of Kauai (Tax Assessor’s Office).
She is survived by husband Michael; stepchildren Karen Manguchei of Aiea, John Chong of Kapa’a, Kristi Manguchei (Aaron Ichiki) of Nu‘uanu, Kira Manguchei of Maui; grandchildren, Megan Manguchei of Aiea, Kalan Borilez of Wailua, Kylee, Alexa and Brooke Ichiki of Nu‘uanu; brother, Ademar (Rose) Agmata; godmother Naty Bali of Hanama‘ulu; grandmother Engracia Baris of Hanama‘ulu; mother-in-law Julia Manguchei; brother-in-law Leroy Manguchei; uncles Juan (Humididad) Luis of Honolulu, Juan Agmata of the Philippines; cousins Nori and Norma Bali of Seattle, Wash., Elsie of the Philippines, Eugenio Agmata of Maui; nieces Chrisia, Britney, and Shantal Bali; nephews Lito and Jorge of the Philippines.
Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 24 at St. Catherine’s Church. Visitation at 9 a.m. with Mass to follow at 10:15 a.m. Burial to follow immediately at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Manguchei family with arrangements.
Dorothy Hideko Yasue
Dorothy “Dee” Hideko Yasue of Lihu‘e died on Sept. 16, 2007, at the age of 72.
Born in Honolulu, she was retired.
She is preceded in death by her husband Yasuo (Jackson) Yasue, sister Hilda Taketa, and brothers William Nishimura and Eiji Nishimura.
She is survived by her daughter Faith Yasue; sister Mae (Mimi) Jong, brothers Robert (Akimasa) Nishimura and Frederick (Tameo) Nishimura; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services have been held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens assisted the Yasue family with arrangements.
Edward Takanishi
Edward “E.T.” Ikuo Takanishi of Kekaha, died Sept. 8, 2007, in Honolulu at the age of 71.
Born March 27, 1936, on Kaua‘i, he was the proprietor of Edward I. Takanishi, Real Estate Appraiser.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne C.L.F Takanishi; sons Dane Takanishi, Darrell Takanishi, Ralph Fukumoto; daughters Doriann Rivera, Lena-Lei Tsubouchi, Yvette Park and Lavonne Fukumoto; 11 grandchildren; brother Wilfred Osamu Takanishi.
Services were held in Honolulu on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha, where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe at 3 p.m. The family requests aloha attire and that flowers be omitted.
