The Kauai Open Handball Tournament drew a record 115 players from the West Coast, Alaska, Japan, Georgia, Arkansas and Hawai‘i playing Oct. 19 through 21 at the Kaua‘i Athletic Club in Lihu‘e.
The toughest categories were in the 50+ and 60+ divisions with a total of 11 national and world championship players competing.
Players attended a barbecue and song competition on Saturday night. Up and coming Kaua‘i player Joey Moranz, 21, won the C singles and was second in C Doubles with Jack Fisher of Kona.

Alumni Waimea cheerleaders invited
The Waimea High School cheer squad is inviting all former Menehune cheerleaders to join them in performing the school’s Alma Mater at Friday night’s homecoming game at Hanapepe Stadium.
A short “review” session is scheduled for tonight (Wednesday) at the Hanapepe Neighborhood Center starting at 6:30 p.m.
