James J. Kawamura
James J. Kawamura of Waimea died at his home on Sept. 10, 2007.
Born in ‘Ele‘ele, he was a self-employed draftsman.
He is survived by his wife Janet; sons James S. (Kathleen) Kawamura of Lawa‘i, Ross E. Kawamura and Jon R. Kawamura, both of Waimea; daughters Gail T. K. (Calen) Odagiri of Mililani, O‘ahu and Joy M. Kawamura of Waimea; eight grandchildren; brother Isami Kawamura of Koloa; sister Fusae (Mitsuyoshi) Yamamoto of Hanapepe. Services were private.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Mary Atkinson
Mary Elizabeth Atkinson of Wailua Homesteads died on Sept. 23, 2007, at Straub Hospital at the age of 23.
Born July 12, 1984, in Roanoke, Va., she lived much of her life in Asheville, North Carolina. For the past four years, she has loved living with her family on Kaua‘i, making many new friends and true ‘ohana with her lovable and loving ways.
Mary was a volunteer for the Kaua‘i Humane Society and a member of ARC. She completed high school at Kapa‘a High in 2004.
She is survived by her parents Joshua and Annaleah Atkinson and sister Christina of Kaua‘i, brother Paul Kelley of Texas, grandmother Betty Stanley of Virginia, grandmother Marge Bamman of New York, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins from throughout the Mainland.
A celebration of Mary’s life and brief service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at 5552 Kuamoo Road in Wailua Homesteads, just past Opaeka‘a Falls.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to “The Mary Elizabeth Gotta Have It” fund for ARC clients be considered.
Robert E. Davis
Robert E. Davis, of Lihu‘e, died Sept. 26, 2007, at his home at the age of 56.
Born Feb. 12, 1951, in Detroit, Mich., he was a chef.
He is survived by his sister Janet Webb of Indiana, partner Don Gatlin of Lihu‘e; niece Sunday Sudharto; and nephews Fred Webb, Paul Webb, and Ryan Webb, all of Indiana.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Po‘ipu.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
