With the rubberized track at Vidinha Stadium installed, the days of driving convertibles around the track have given way to the homecoming royalty doing their promenade on foot.
“This is just for the pre-game walk,” said Ashlee Miyashiro, the sophomore class representative. “Now that we’re done, we get to put on our shoes and get our flowers.”
During the halftime show that was highlighted by the new uniforms and brisk marching routine of the Red Raider band under the direction of Darryl Miyasato, the homecoming court was introduced.
Topax Fernandez was able to change from her cheerleader outfit into a striking orange gown as she was escorted by Darren Jay Acoba as the Freshman Class representative.
Miyashiro, the sophomore representative, was escorted by Lanan Rice-Kashima. Jori-Anne Jasper was escorted by Riley Martinez as the Junior representative. Cross country runner Elizabeth Schiller did not seem to mind that the KIF championship is Saturday as she smiled when escorted onto the field by Mannie Cagdan as the Senior representative.
Alyssa Aquino was escorted by Chysen Gray as Ms. Football, Brittney Pascua was escorted by Marc Uduarbe as Ms. Victory, the couple doing a routine following their introduction.
Jamilee Jimenez was announced as Ms. Spirit, escorted by Kalei Ka‘auwai, and Diandra Melchor was escorted by Tyson Chihara as Ms. Raider.
Lauren Riley ruled over the festivities as Homecoming Queen with Kyle Mira escorting her.
