Keoki’s Paradise continues to honor Kaua‘i’s top educators for their outstanding commitment to excellence in education with its Educator of the Month program.
Leila Kobayashi and Ray Carvalho of Koloa Elementary School were selected as the honorees for August and September 2007, respectively. Each received a Keoki’s Paradise gift certificate worth $75 and T-shirt.
As the student services coordinator, Kobayashi oversees student support services for K-5 students, provides guidance to teachers and staff, and oversees the positive behaviors support program, which helps to reinforce positive behavior in students.
Kobayashi has worked at Koloa Elementary School for 10 years. She was selected as the August Educator of the Month for her positive attitude, openness to all staff members, good communication skills, and for serving as a role model.
Carvalho was recently hired at Koloa Elementary School as a counselor. He teaches character education and provides guidance to all students, assists individual students and families with their needs, and assists teachers with students’ behavioral management. Carvalho was selected as the September Educator of the Month for being a role model, for his enthusiasm for his work, positive spirit, and for executing tasks promptly.
“We are proud to honor Educators of the Month, Leila Kobayashi and Ray Carvalho,” said Manette DeCosta, marketing manager at Keoki’s Paradise, in a press release. “Staff members at Koloa are very proud of their educators and staff personnel for going above and beyond the call of duty, for their consistency, and positive influence on students, staff, teachers, and parents.”
