HANAPEPE — After two months of football, the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Association wraps up its 2007 season with the Maile Bowl Saturday.
Coming on the heels of the annual Shrine Bowl, which features mandatory players combining for two teams, the Maile Bowl will feature off-island teams playing Kaua‘i teams in four games at Vidinha Stadium.
Starting at 9 a.m., the Junior Pee Wee Lihu‘e Patriots play host to the Hanapepe Colts, the only game that features all-Kaua‘i squads.
At 11 a.m., the Waiakea Nakoa’s Pee Wee team from the Big Island squares off against the Lihu‘e Patriots PW team.
Panaewa Alii’s Pee Wee team, another Big Island squad, will match up against the Hanapepe Colts with kick off scheduled for 1 p.m.
The day’s finale comes when the Panaewa Alii’s Midget team goes up against the Hanapepe Colts Midget team with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
Results from last week’s Shrine Bowl, an event where proceeds go to benefit the Shriner’s Hospital, will be forthcoming in a future issue of The Garden Island.
For the Shrine Bowl, players from Kapa‘a and Lihu‘e will combine to form the Eastside team while players from Koloa, Hanapepe and Kekaha combine to form the Westside squad.
