I don’t know about you, but in the 14 years I have been playing fantasy football, there has always been a week where someone in my league loses because of poor lineup choices.
It seems like some of these NFL players forget how to play football and that’s the week you start him. But of course you bench him the next week and he would have won the game for you. Sound familiar?
Well, here’s some help for Week 11.
Put me in coach! (Start)
• Quarterbacks
Look for Carson Palmer (Bengals) to bounce back after a zero touchdown performance that cost me a game. There is NO way you’ll see Peyton Manning (Colts) throw six interceptions in a game again. He will throw six touchdowns before he ever throws six picks in one game. Drew Brees (Saints) will try to keep my poor Saints in the playoff hunt while Tony Romo (Cowboys) and his brand new contract will continue to light up the scoreboard. Big Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers) has looked unstoppable as of late, so start him against the reeling Jets.
• Running backs
Even though LaDanian Tomlinson (Chargers), isn’t going to score 30 TD’s this year, he is almost certain to score every week. Now, speaking of the Chargers; how is it that a team, who gave up the most rushing yards ever allowed to one player in the history of the NFL, can hold Joseph Addai (Colts) to 56 yards and no TD’s? This year has been so inconsistent, it is ridiculous. One player who has not been is Addai, so get him in your lineup. Chester Taylor (Vikings) and Edgerrin James (Cardinals) are nice starts too. LenDale White (Titans) should post good numbers against a Bronco’s run defense that even I could gain 100 yards on. And finally, look for Reggie Bush (Saints) to score by land and air against the team who actually passed on him in last year’s NFL draft.
• Wide receivers
T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Bengals) had his first game of the season without a TD. Don’t count on that happening again. Terrell Owens (Cowboys) continues to be a great team player. What a surprise. Joey Galloway (Buccaneers) is the definition of hit or miss. But, he should be a good start this week. It only took Reggie Brown (Eagles) eight weeks to be a blip on the radar but now would be a great time to get him in your lineup.
• Tight Ends
Jason Witten (Cowboys) doesn’t even need a helmet to play. Why would you sit him? Antonio Gates (Chargers) is the victim of poor play calling and an inconsistent quarterback, but he is a No. 1 tight end.
Hold my clipboard (Bench)
• Quarterbacks
With the talent surrounding Philip Rivers (Chargers), how can he look so bad? Please don’t start any rookies like John Beck (Miami) or coming soon, JaMarcus Russell (Oakland). This is not exactly the best week for Brodie Croyle (Chiefs) to take over as the starting QB of the Chiefs.
• Running Backs
Jamal Lewis’ (Browns) old team will keep him locked up much like the Steelers did last week. Minnesota is going to make Justin Fargas (Raiders) pay for what Ryan Grant (Packers) did to their third-ranked rush defense.
• Wide Receivers
Bench ANY Bay Area WR. For those of you who don’t know, that means San Francisco and Oakland.
• Tight Ends
The musical chairs at QB in Carolina have hurt one of the best receivers in the league in Steve Smith. Jeff King has also been knocked off his throne.
