The Hanapepe Colts Pee Wee cheering squad has done it again. The squad took second place in the 2007 Pop Warner Little Scholars National Cheer and Dance Championships in the Small Novice Division, yesterday, in Orlando, Fla. This the second time in two years that the Colts took home the second-place trophy.
“It was an emotional win for our girls,” assistant coach Sherri Agosta said in a release. “They knew it was going to be a very tough journey, competing against the top 19 teams within their division from across the country. It was their drive and determination that gave them the capability to work as a team.”
The Hanapepe Colts (74.2) finished second to the Manchester Hawks (77.3) by 3.1 points. The Lihu‘e Patriots, who also competed yesterday, finished in 15th place. The Patriots scores were not posted.
Hanapepe’s sister squad in the Midget Division will compete on Friday. They are scheduled to return on Saturday.
The members of the Pee Wee squad are Tamara Akau, Jenaiah Banasihan, Kairey Bermoy-Banasihan, Harley Broyles, Blakelee Cox-Abuan, Taylor Gaspar, Alyssa Jardin, Kualii Kamala, Kristin Moriwake, Tiffany Patricio-Huddy and Jianna Wachi.
