The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority announced it will fund more than 100 events and projects through the County Product Enrichment Program and the Statewide Product Enrichment Program.
County Product Enrichment was created in 2002 as a partnership between the authority and Hawai‘i’s counties. Through the program, the counties receive HTA funding for tourism product enrichment activities on their respective islands to support projects in the niche areas of agritourism, cultural tourism, ecotourism, edutourism, health and wellness tourism, and technotourism. An additional five projects were supported under the Statewide Product Enrichment Program, which covers multi-county activities.
“This program continues to be a success and in particular, the (Hawai‘i Tourism Authority) and county partnership continues to be a win-win situation with expanded community input, as well as more community-based activities for visitors and residents to enjoy,” Rex Johnson, president and chief executive officer of the authority, said in a press release. “The CPEP and SPEP encourage programs that represent the diversity, culture and values of Hawai‘i, while helping to create a unique visitor experience on each Hawaiian Island.”
The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority was created in 1998 to ensure a successful visitor industry well into the future. Its mission is to strategically manage the growth of Hawai‘i’s visitor industry in a manner consistent with our economic goal, cultural values, preservation of natural resources, and community interests.
