Scout Troop 270 from the Kalaheo Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold a U.S. flag disposal ceremony during its campout Friday.
If anyone would like to have an old flag properly disposed of, contact Stu Burley at 651-1111. The old flags can be dropped off at the LDS Chapel in Kalaheo.
The ceremony consists of every scout in full dress Class A uniform standing at attention around the fire pit.
Two Scouts will properly fold the flags and place them on the fire.
All of the Scouts will salute and say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. All the Scouts will then bow their heads for a moment of silence.
This ceremony is the proper way to dispose of old flags instead of throwing them in the trash.
