Ross Shimabukuro was juggling between the baseball game and the golf matches at Puakea during the opening of both seasons Saturday.
Ron Kouchi had microphone duties since the Jasper ‘ohana was out in Waimea for the softball tournament, and Joy Kouchi was out with the Hats Off box for contributions to the American Red Cross. With that kind of partnership, no wonder Waimea coach Kelly Robinson and his staff could not escape digging into their pocket.
But the food was good … chili, chicken hekka, and all the other baseball goodies (Anahola Joel Pahukula must have his hot dog before going on the air for KQNG … it’s tradition!).
Pauline Ibia was there, but next Saturday, she’ll be with the Wal-Mart crew doing community work at the Hanama‘ulu Beach Park.
The Manny Henriques ‘ohana was split between Vidinha Stadium and the Kiahuna Tennis and Swim Club where Sam (unfortunately, no Puka Dog this trip) was doing trainer duty. Nicole Farr (she’s not even sunburnt from all those days in the sun) had the Waimea tourney and Keith Burgess (mahalo for the hot dog Friday night!) was at the baseball game.
Tina Cox was the one having issues with dress since she used to wear red, but Tommy John now coaches green. She solved that problem by wearing black (in that hot sun?).
OK, time to check out the calendar for this week’s happenings … basketball tonight in Kalaheo!
