Police surrounded a car and drew their weapons yesterday in an attempt to arrest two suspects around 3:40 p.m. in front of the Lihu‘e Subway restaurant.
The suspects, a male operator and a female passenger, were both seated in a gray Toyota Camry.
Nearly a dozen police officers responded to the scene.
Assistant Chief Clayton Arinaga said in an e-mail that officers were informed the operator of the vehicle had displayed a firearm.
