WAILUA n A 19-year-old Kapa‘a woman sustained serious injuries Tuesday evening after a piece of iron rebar impaled her leg.
Priscilla Wiltz was walking with friends when she slipped off the edge of Loop Road in Wailua, falling into the stream. According to police, Wiltz impaled her lower right leg on the piece of rebar that was hidden beneath the surface of the water.
She was attempting to walk over the first stream crossing with several friends on Loop Road at around 6 p.m. when she slipped and fell into the river.
Police, fire and medical personnel responded and freed the victim from the exposed rebar. She was treated at the scene and taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Personnel at Wilcox would not comment on the condition of Wiltz.
According to police, there was no evidence of foul play.
