When Gwen Teragawa offers bread pudding, don’t say ‘no.’ Gwen had a bunch of goodies for the Garden Island Orchid Society spring orchid show and sale Friday. And, who would have known that the Hanapepe Cafe and Bakery would be closed? Next time, it’s the Gwen Teragawa bread pudding.
Joanna Carolan was busy making sure the rain wouldn’t spoil Karen Camara’s trip here from Maui, and Arius Hopman was getting his things ready to hang at the Roy’s Restaurant in Po‘ipu.
Over at TimeSpace gallery, there were orchid renderings from about 60 artists and Antonio Arellanes knew something about each one that was hanging. But the clincher was the music that he selected which just made everything come together.
Ada Koene had a fancy lightbox she picked up from the Internet. It must work well because she was waiting on it so she could get photos of the orchids on display.
Meanwhile, Gwen Hamabata was checking out the birds at the Salt Ponds … the Brant geese are gone, and so is the Glossy Ibis that showed up late last month. Gwen said it was here only for one day and it looked like a vulture.
Hats off to the Rotarians who hosted another great track meet Friday night! And Loke Manaku and Kayla Werner were thrilled to make the state competition in the girls discus after waiting so long.
Kudos to Bill Barcher and his Warrior air riflery students and parents on the new covered range … can’t wait until the KIF fall season rolls around to see if it works.
