Lenore Klass (she and Bob have lunch at Kukui Grove regularly) has a great Earth Day suggestion. At the Lihu‘e Airport, consolidate the rental car buses so only one makes pickups and dropoffs for all the companies to minimize the number of large vehicles burning gas with a small number of riders. Bob said they do it at Mainland airports to minimize traffic congestion.
Mahalo to coach Bryan Aiwohi for calling in the scores of the Kapa‘a-Kekaha PONY baseball game. Kekoa Alfiler walked after Kapa‘a tied the game at 10-10, and on a third strike missed pitch, scored on the resulting error for the win.
With the KIF baseball season drawing to a close, it was nice to see Warrior players Travis Shigeta, B.J. Aiwohi and Cody Goias helping coach Bryan with the Kapa‘a team.
Similarly, coach Shawn Hosaka was in the coaching staff for the Kekaha team as was Waimea softball coach Teddy Perreira helping with the Hanapepe Cubs (Mike Scovel remembers coaching Joey Bagain’s dad).
Leah Scovel (she might tell you about the hole in the wall) was at Kaua‘i softball practice and is already getting excited about tonight’s game when Kaua‘i WILL have a food booth — corn chowder goes good with Isenberg nights!
Peter Rayno was on his bike (another Earth Day thingie done every day) and said they lost the Senior championship, but since the game is at Isenberg, he’ll probably swing by, and if Lihu‘e 2 PONY starts practicing at the Peter Rayno Park, he might come out to help coach, too. First pitch is at 5:30 p.m.
