The Waimea High School’s volleyball team was eliminated from state title contention last night, in the New City Nissan/Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Boys Volleyball Division II State Championships.
Third-ranked Hilo High School (10-4) defeated Waimea (7-4) in three sets, 25-20, 24-26 and 25-23.
The two-time Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions will no go on to today’s consolation round to play No. 2 Seabury Hall at 6 p.m., today, at Farrington High School.
The Menehune won its first game in the tournament, 2-0 over Nanakuli High School, 25-19, 25-13.
Seabury fell to unranked Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy in straight sets, 24-26 and 23-25.
