Manny Henriques is looking for wolves when he heads to Yellowstone and Glacier parks this week. Sam said he’s been checking the photographers’ Web page almost daily and knows all about Rosie and her cubs.
Manny and Sam were at the Green-and-White game as was Ha‘aheo coach Bobbie Rapozo. Dr. Rick Goodale (he has a lot of knowledge about mosquitoes) said he gave up refereeing a Men’s Soccer League game so he could be on the football field, but he’ll be at soccer when the Kaua‘i Cup starts June 1 (yes, it’s a Sunday).
Pauline Ibia said the annual baseball banquet for the Kaua‘i High School team (Division II state champions) has a limited number of seats for members of the public who want to honor the team. That banquet is coming up June 1 and you need to call her if you want to go.
Meanwhile, Kapa‘a AD Gregg Gonsalves said he wanted to go to the Kapa‘a girls softball state games, but couldn’t get return flights. Calvin Paleka said he was hoping the Kapa‘a girls would meet Kaua‘i for the HHSAA title since he had a workshop that morning.
But that didn’t happen, and he got to watch Jamilee Jimenez do the triple jump and Tiffany Ikeda-Simao win the 100-meter dash (he said it was a true photo finish).
Hats off to all the ADs on a great job with the spring football games. Coach Jon Kobayashi had a couple of autographed Jordon Dizon shirts as giveaways at the Blue-and-White game, and Theresa Koki and Margaret Kagawa were anchoring the PTSA table where the candy bars were perfect dessert for the shoyu chicken plate.
