Nelson Lalin
Nelson P. Lalin (aka Porpoise) died Aug. 3, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 50. Born Nov. 2, 1957, he was employed with the Department of Health, Vector Control Department for 22 years.
He was preceded in death by mother Olivia Daligdig Lalin.
He is survived by father Mauricio (Gliceria) Lalin; brothers Elmer (Lita) Lalin of the Philippines and Calvin (Rose) Lalin; sisters Robin Bandmann of Arizona, Melody Ann Lalin and Christine Lalin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunties and uncles.
Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa; prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m. The family requests casual/aloha attire. Cremation to follow. On Saturday, Aug. 9, Nelson wishes a private moment of scattering of his ashes by his close friends out in the ocean at Kealia Beach.
Richard Yano
Richard T. Yano died Aug. 1, 2008, on O‘ahu at the age of 74. Born March 15, 1934, in Volcano, Hawai‘i, he was a retired Kaua‘i High School science teacher and also retired from his second career as an Agricultural Inspector at Lihu‘e Airport.
He was preceded in death by brother Mitsuyuki Yano and son John Yano.
He is survived by wife Donna (Doi) Yano of Lihu‘e; daughters Jolene (John) Ogle of Lihu‘e and Alane (Bradley) Obidowski of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren John Makalea and Jana Ogle, and Jack and Jared Obidowski; sisters Chiyomi Waikida of Hilo, Betty Yano of Los Angeles, Calif., Ruth Nagata of Mountain View, Hawai‘i, Helen (Hatsuo “Joe”) Honma of Manoa and Nancy Yano of Honolulu; sister-in-law Toyo Yano of Los Angeles, Calif.; mother-in-law Yukiko Doi of Wailua; and numerous brothers – and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel; services begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and the family requests flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary Ltd.
Louis Jacintho
Louis “Uncle Louie” Jacintho Jr. of Koloa, died Aug. 6, 2008, at Garden Isle HealthCare at the age of 83. Born Dec. 19, 1924, in Koloa, he was a retired irrigation supervisor with McBryde Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by wife Sayoko Watanabe Jacintho, brother Richard Jacintho and sister Marie Emura.
He is survived by son Dennis (Darcy) Jacintho of ‘Oma‘o; daughters Doreen Jacintho of Koloa and Delia (Bruce) Akaji of Kalaheo; grandchildren Michelle (Kimo Texeira) Jacintho, Nicole Jacintho, Destiny Jacintho, Dennis Jacintho, Rhiannon (Brian) Morales, Electra Aki, Cy (Shan) Akaji, Brooke Akaji, Leif Akaji and Sunny Akaji; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters Eleanor Carvalho of Lihu‘e and Lydia Sakimae of Gardena, Calif.; brother-in-law Henry Emura of Kekaha; Uncle Gabriel Cataluna Sr. of Koloa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa; Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. The family requests casual attire. A private scattering of ashes will follow Mass.
William Redongo
William Redongo, formerly of Kaua‘i, died July 29, 2008, at the age of 78. He was born Oct. 6, 1929.
He is survived by daughter Darlene of Washington; sons Michael, Felix and Javan, all of California; grandchildren Nicole, Justin, Kodie, Zachery, Chad, Emma, Keanu, Jonas, Justine and Kaylie; daughters-in-law Joyce and Katie; sisters Cathy Fraticelli of O‘ahu and Leonora Kouchi of Kaua‘i; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held in California.
