After a day of rest on Thursday, the Detroit Lions returned to the practice field yesterday in preparation for their second preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals tomorrow.
Waimea High School grad and Lions rookie Jordon Dizon made his NFL debut in the Detroit’s 13-10 win over the New York Giants and is expected to play tomorrow.
At a post-practice interview yesterday, head coach Rod Marinelli said he was impressed with how Dizon has developed with the team over the last few weeks.
“Yeah, he’s instinctively just learning,” Marinelli said. “He’ll make some really nice splash plays, he’s got that ability. So, this guy’s going to help us.”
In his debut, the 22-year-old linebacker registered two tackles including one for a 2-yard loss.
Dizon is the second player with Hawai‘i ties on the roster — the other is University of Hawai‘i alum Ikaika Alama-Francis.
Including tomorrow’s game, the Lions have three more before their regular season starts.
