Kaua‘i High School’s sophomore setter Waileia Kanealii not only made the St. Joseph’s Invitational All-Tournament Team in the Silver division, but was also dubbed the “Most Outstanding Player.”
This is Kanealii’s first year on the varsity team and her second preseason tournament. Her first was the Raider-hosted Kaua‘i Challenge.
In yesterday’s final day of action at the invitational, Kaua‘i defeated Kohala in three sets, 25-21, 17-21 and 15-13, and lost to St. Andrews, also in three, 22-25, 5-25 and 8-15.
For the tournament, Kaua‘i finished 5-5.
Joining Kanealii on the tournament team was senior hitter Jori Jasper. Over the past couple of days Jasper has been one of Kaua‘i’s strongest hitters at the invitational.
There were 10 teams in the three-day invitational on the Big Island.
