Last week the Malea Foundation hosted its weeklong celebration of Hawaiian culture during the 26th annual Mokihana Festival.
Six days of hula, music and talk story honored ‘ohana, the arts, Kaua‘i kupuna and Hawaiian culture.
“Under the Palms at Maka‘iwa” Sept. 23 at Resort Quest was a multi-generational reunion that featured family after family taking the stage to share hula, music and song.
All proceeds for this event went toward the Malie scholarship, which is for students of the Hawaiian language, for cultural school projects, and for the first time this year, funds Hawaiian-study students at Kaua‘i Community College.
