Heather Farmer
Heather Farmer of Lihu‘e died on Sept. 30, 2008, at home at the age of 76. Born on March 19, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas, she was retired as a newsstand operator at Kaua‘i Airport.
She is survived by husband George Farmer; sons Nicholas of Oregon, Kenneth of California, Victor of Washington and Burrell of California; stepson Howard (Keiko) Farmer of Lihu‘e; daughter-in-law Barbara Evatt of California; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial will begin with services at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, at Lihue Christian Church.
The family suggests casual attire and graciously declines flowers.

Mercedes “Mercy” Mary Contrades of Lihu‘e died on Oct. 2, 2008, at home at the age of 77. Born on June 6, 1931, in Lihu‘e, she was retired as the executive housekeeper with Inter Island Resorts.
She is survived by husband Ervin A.H. Contrades Sr. of Lihu‘e; sons Erv Contrades Jr. of Lihu‘e, Clayton Contrades and Kalei (Wiley Ann) Contrades both of Alaska; daughters Lavana Contrades of Lihu‘e and Sandra (Jerry) Costa of Koloa; hanai son Charlie Strunk of Lihu‘e; sister Joyce (Edward) Pascua of Hanama‘ulu; grandchildren Kalani Contrades, Kelsey Contrades, Kendall Contrades, Kristine Contrades, Malia (Kyle) Napoleon and Roy Costa; great-grandchildren Kurt Napoleon, Kyler Napoleon, Kiara Monet Tolliver, Kiani Monet Mercedes Contrades; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will begin with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Lihue Lutheran Church and services to follow.

Ramona Cruzada
Ramona Cruzada died Oct. 1 2008 at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 91. Born in San Fernando Cebu, Phillipines on Feb. 28, 1917, she was a custodian with Wilcox Elementary School.
Preceded in death by her husband, Restutio H. Cruzada. She is survived by two sons, Russell (Susan) of Aiea, O‘ahu and Allan (Kathy) Cruzada of Portland, Oregon; four daughters, Gloria Vega of Lanai City, Veronica (Dennis) Gish of Kansas City, Missouri, Lorraine (David) Ishii of Aiea, Oahu and Sheila Ann Barretto of Hanamaulu; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 7, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Mass at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire suggested.

Cyrus Lee Prem died Sept. 27, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 27, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by parents Mikey and Desiree Prem; sister Rhylee Prem; brother Caleb Melling; grandparents Cresanto Tangonan, Maria Prem, and Philip and Marlene Eliana Jr.; great-grandparents Semie Tangonan, James “Sparky” and Ramona Prem, Philip Eliana Sr. and Mauro Valvieja; and numerous aunties, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa; services to follow.

Henry Duarte
Henry “Gramps” Rocha Duarte Sr. of Kurtistown, Hawai‘i, died Sept. 27, 2008, at his residence at the age of 85. Born on Feb. 2, 1923, in Honolulu, he was a pipefitter foreman for Hercules Construction.
He is survived by sons Henry (Kathleen) Duarte Jr. of Ka‘a‘awa, O‘ahu, Howard (Yvonne) Duarte of Ohio and Earl Duarte of Kurtistown, Hawai‘i; daughters Gwendolyn Hensley of Seattle, Wash., and Penny Geter of Newark, N.J.; brother Raymond “Macky” (Tasha) Duarte of Kaua‘i; sister Mary Burgette of Honolulu; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
No services will be held. There will be a scattering of ashes in Makua, O‘ahu.
