The Kapa‘a Business Association invites the community to celebrate the Royal Coconut Coast’s weekend festival, an event that includes contests, games, food, entertainment, cooking and craft demonstrations, historical and cultural displays, arts and crafts for sale and loads of fun. The festival offers residents of all ages a chance to have fun while paying tribute to one of Kaua‘i’s most versatile trees and its seed.
No festival is complete without contests. Each day will feature pie eating contests for adults and children. On October 12 anyone with a secret coconut recipe can show off their culinary skill by entering the coconut cook-off contest. Its easy to enter and fun to create a unique or favorite dish with coconut as an ingredient. Enter in one of three categories: Professional, amateur or keiki. Prizes include $100 in cash, certificates for dinners at some of Kaua‘i’s best restaurants, flight on a motorized hand glider by Birds of Paradise, a tandem parachute jump by Sky Dive Kaua‘i and many other certificates from Kaua‘i outdoor activity companies. Pick up entry forms at Vicky’s Fabrics or Kaua‘i Marine and Mower in Kapa‘a.
