Toshio Ishida
Toshio Ishida of Numila died on Oct. 16, 2008, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. Born on April 20, 1918, in Makaweli, he was a retired chemist with McBryde Sugar Company.
He is survived by a son Wendel (Karen) Ishida of Kalaheo; daughters Gwendolyn (Richard) Teragawa of Hanapepe and Lyndel (Wilfred) Chikahiro of Lawa‘i; eight grandchildren, Iris (Marvin) Hesapene, Tammy (Brian) Kuniyoshi, Rachelle (Mark) Mararagan, Ginny (Blaine) Agena, Brad (Holly) Chikahiro, Chad (Laree) Chikahiro, Clarice Yoshimoto and Crystal Ishida; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Sueko Kawane and Jane Kurokawa.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery pavilion.
Service officiated by Rev. Hashimoto will begin at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Shigemi “Stanley” Sakahashi of Hanapepe, Kaua‘i, died on Oct. 21, 2008, in Anahola at the age of 87. Born on Oct. 5, 1921 in Makaweli, he was the owner of Stan’s and Stan and Clayton’s.
He is survived by wife Miyoko; son Clayton Sakahashi (Caryn) of ‘Ele‘ele; daughters JoAnn Bergh (Larry) of Hanapepe and Lettie Matsuura (Bruce) of Kane‘ohe; sister Tsugi Azeka of ‘Ele‘ele, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with service to follow Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Mitchell Philips
Mitchell Alan Philips of Kalaheo died at his home at the age of 59. Born June 10, 1949, in California, he was a long-time resident. Preceeded in death by his father Michael Phillips; mother Voncille Phillips; sister Michelle Ford. He is survived by son Jesse Phillips, of Kaua‘i; brother Mike Phillips of California; and Marc Phillips of Georgia.
Services and sreading his ashes will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2008 at Poipu Beach Park.
