Katsumi Oda of Kapa‘a died on Sept. 13, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Born on Nov. 16, 1922, in Kapa‘a, he was a retired carpenter.
He was survived by wife Thelma T. Oda; sons Glenn K. Oda of California, Michael H. Oda and Richard I. Oda both of Kaua‘i; daughters Audrey T. Nishioka of Honolulu and Jessica S. Hamod of Fresno, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers Masami Oda of Kapa‘a, Michiyuki Uchida of Lihu‘e and Philip Uchida of Honolulu; sisters Marsha Hatsue Shimabukuro of ‘Aiea, O‘ahu, and Seiko Kasumi of Honolulu; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary Ltd.
