Steiner gets first ace
After 20 years, it’s finally happened for Doug Steiner. The 53-year-old golfer from Koloa, in early September, hit his first hole in one at the Princeville Golf Club’s Prince Course.
Steiner used a Callaway X14, 7 iron for 153 yards on the par-3 No. 7. This feat was witnessed by Joanie Steiner and Bud.
“It’s all luck,” he said.
West KMC/KVMH host golf tourney
The West Kaua‘i Medical Center and Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital will host its Fourth Annual Charitable Golf Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course.
It will be a two-person scramble with the shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
The entry fee for the tournament is a tax deductible $100 and teams should be registered by Oct. 13.
All proceeds will benefit new hospital equipment.
Waimea pool closed for weekend
The Waimea swimming pool will be closed to the public on Saturday and Sunday to accommodate Mokihana Aquatics’ time trials for the upcoming Bill Smith Invitational Meet.
Spectators are welcome to watch the event.
The normal hours of operation at the Waimea facility are: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday.
The pool is closed on Mondays and holidays.
