HANAPEPE — Trey Aguano threw for two touchdowns, ran for two point-after plays and booted a PAT to lead the Koloa Rams to a 40-0 showing over the Lihu‘e Patriots Saturday.
That game was one of two PeeWee division games played at Hanapepe Stadium for the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Association.
With the win, the Koloa Rams remain undefeated in division play with a 5-0 record and 10 points in the standings while the Patriots are still seeking its first season win.
The Kapa‘a Eagles, a 27-8 winner over the Hanapepe Colts in the early PeeWee game, are second in the division with a 3-1 record and 6 points followed by the Colts at 1-3 and 2 points.
With the results of Saturday’s games, the standings set the stage for Oct. 25 when the No. 2 Eagles meet the undefeated Rams in a 6 p.m. matchup at the New Kapa‘a Town Park stadium.
Rashaan Kuhaulua threw for two touchdowns and ran in a point-after play to lead the Kapa‘a Eagles PW to a 27-8 win over the Hanapepe Colts PW.
Levi Bethel had the sole first-half score for Kapa‘a, an 8-yard run early in the first quarter, for the 6-0 Eagles’ halftime lead.
Kuhaulua connected with Edsel Lactaotao on an 18-yard scoring pass, and Lactaotao’s PAT boot upped the lead to 14-0 before three scores peppered the scoreboard in the final period.
Kuhaulua opened on a 19-yard aerial to Daniel Alonzo at the 7:19 mark to open the explosive fourth frame.
Hanapepe’s Jobe Delos Reyes answered with a 68-yard scoot to paydirt at the 6:02 mark, gracing that TD with a successful PAT boot, but Kaikea Sonoda put the game out of reach on a 9-yard charge to the end zone with Kuhaulua doing the PAT run.
Aguano ran in the first of two PAT runs following Kyren Rapacon’s 9-yard scoring run for Koloa. He followed that by connecting with Kelson Andrade for a 12-yard scoring hit at the 1:26 mark in the opening period, gracing that score with his second PAT run. Aguano’s second TD strike, a 52-yard hit, went to Kainoa Simao early in the third quarter, the Rams’ QB nailing that victory with a successful PAT boot.
Tystin Gummerus and Michael Gabriel took the pigskin for scoring runs in the second quarter, Gummerus breaking the plane following a 15-yard peel and Gabriel extracting laughter from the Rams’ coaching staff as he bounced off Patriot defenders and cleared the pack en route to a 45-yard scoring run for the 26-0 halftime lead.
James Bukoski peeled off a 63-yard score in the last quarter for the final math.
Junior PeeWee
Shain Davis ran for two touchdowns and a point-after play to lead the Kapa‘a Eagles JPW to its 26-6 showing over the Hanapepe Colts JPW.
The Colts got on the boards first with an 80-yard runback of a fumble recovery only to have Davis peeling off 10 yards for a score late in the opening quarter for a 6-6 halftime deadlock.
The break gave the Eagles time to adjust and the squad came back for three third quarter scores to wrap up the win.
John Levinthol, La‘akea Iseri-Carvalho and Davis peeled off scores of 47 yards, 39 yards and 13 yards, respectively for the final accounting after Davis and Levinthol punched in point-after runs.
Destin Miguel and Neno Costales peeled off to lead the Kekaha JPW to a 12-0 showing over the Koloa JPW in the second matchup in this division.
Miguel broke a 0-0 stalemate with 28 seconds remaining in the half on his 4-yard run to the end zone, and Costales added an 8-yard scoring run midway through the fourth quarter.
Kapa‘a Eagles JPW are 4-0 with 8 points following the Saturday matches with the Hanapepe Colts JPW dropping to 2-2 and 4 points for a tie with the Lihu‘e Patriots (2-2, 4 points). Koloa and Kekaha are tied for third place with 1-3 records and 2 points each.
Midgets
Jae Delos Reyes threw for three touchdowns and Chad Sherman was 3-3 in PAT boots to lead the Hanapepe Colts Midget team to a 30-0 showing over the Kapa‘a Eagles in the sole Midget division contest.
Delos Reyes found Stuart Pereira twice in the first half, a 19-yard hit in the first quarter and a 23-yard connection in the second frame with Sherman gracing both scores with PAT boots for the 16-0 halftime lead.
Delos Reyes went to the air again in the third frame for a 28-yard connection to Shylen Keuma at the 1:59 mark with Sherman booting his final PAT for the 24-0 bulge.
With 3:41 left in the game, Cy Corona graced the Hanapepe win on a 1-yard charge to the end zone for the final math.
The Colts take control of the Midget division with a 4-1 record and 8 points following its Saturday win while Kapa‘a drops to 1-4 and 2 points, a tie with Kekaha who are 1-3 and 2 points.
The Lihu‘e Patriots fill in second place at 3-1 and 6 points.
Saturday’s games move to Vidinha Stadium when Koloa hosts Hanapepe in the morning series and Lihu‘e hosts Kapa‘a in a PW contest and Kekaha in a JPW and Midget contest. First games start at 8 a.m.
