Cyrus Prem
Cyrus Lee Prem died Sept. 27, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 27, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by parents Mikey and Desiree Prem; sister Rhylee Prem; brother Caleb Melling; grandparents Cresanto Tangonan, Maria Prem, and Philip and Marlene Eliana Jr.; great-grandparents Semie Tangonan, James “Sparky” and Ramona Prem, Philip Eliana Sr. and Mauro Valvieja; and numerous aunties, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa; services to follow.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
Dee Ann Uchida
Dee Ann Uchida died Sept. 16, 2008 in Tualatin, Oregon, at the age of 55.
Born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i she was a clerk for the Portland Public Schools.
She is preceded in death by mother Sachie Uchida. She is survived by father Michiyuki Uchida, brothers Alvin (Susan) and Barry (Cheryl), nephew Nick Uchida and niece Maile Uchida. Services on Kauai to be announced at a later date.
Mercedes Contrades
Mercedes “Mercy” Mary Contrades of Lihu‘e died on Oct. 2, 2008, at home at the age of 77. Born on June 6, 1931, in Lihu‘e, she was retired as the executive housekeeper with Inter Island Resorts.
She is survived by husband Ervin A.H. Contrades Sr. of Lihu‘e; sons Erv Contrades Jr. of Lihu‘e, Clayton Contrades and Kalei (Wiley Ann) Contrades, both of Alaska; daughters Lavana Contrades of Lihu‘e and Sandra (Jerry) Costa of Koloa; hanai son Charlie Strunk of Lihu‘e; sister Joyce (Edward) Pascua of Hanama‘ulu; grandchildren Kalani Contrades, Kelsey Contrades, Kendall Contrades, Kristine Contrades, Malia (Kyle) Napoleon and Roy Costa; great-grandchildren Kurt Napoleon, Kyler Napoleon, Kiara Monet Tolliver, Kiani Monet Mercedes Contrades; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will begin with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Lihue Lutheran Church and services to follow.
The family suggests casual attire.

William Kolo
William Kaiwi Kolo of Lihu‘e died on Oct. 5, 2008, at home at the age of 83. Born on Feb. 14, 1925, in Hule‘ia, Kaua‘i, he served in the U.S. Army in WW II from 1948 to 1952 and was retired from Holmes & Narver and Hawaiian Dredging as a rigger.
He is survived by brother Alapai Kolo; sisters Mildred Chow, Elsie Kaahaaina, Lillian Agtarap, Louisa Brown and Alice Silverman; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Kolo family with arrangements.
Namiko Naganuma
Namiko Yamasaki Naganuma of Lihu‘e died Oct. 4, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Born Oct. 20, 1922, in Lihu‘e, she was a retired bank teller with First Hawaiian Bank.
She is survived by son Dr. Greg K. Naganuma (Joann) of Lihu‘e; daughters Jill T. Gushiken (Ralph) of San Jose, Calif., and Nami A. Yoshikawa (Tad) of Lihu‘e; five grandchildren; sister Kimie Matsuo (Kenji) of Kailua, O‘ahu.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission; service at 4 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary Ltd.
Alexa Inciong
Alexa Inciong of Lihu‘e died on Oct. 4, 2008, at home at the age of 91. Born on Oct. 14, 1916, in Maui, she was a retired senior coordinator at the senior center.
She is survived by husband Phillip Inciong; sons Phillip Alex (Suzanne) of Wisconsin, Benjamin Gary (Lori) of Tennessee, Kevin James Tavares of Honolulu; daughters Tricia (Alan) Feiteira of Maui, Cindy (John) Nobriga of Oregon, Stacie (Lee Ridley) Inciong of Lihu‘e; sisters Elizabeth (Bob) Ornellas of Washington, Linda Blylevin of California; brother Richard Tavares of Maui; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be begin with family visitation from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., public from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mass at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at St. Josephs Church, Makawao. Scattering of ashes Oct. 18 on Kaua‘i.
