Happy birthday to Laurie Yoshida (she’s Gov. Linda Lingle’s Kaua‘i liaison) who was celebrating with her office staff at Gaylord’s. Actually, attending the unveiling of the Mea Ho‘omana‘o program by Beth Tokioka was an opportunity to meet up with not only Russ, but Paige Talvi as well.
Larry Rivera and daughter Ilima did a great job with the “Aloha Begins With Me,” and an even better job with the Hawaiian music afterwards.
Diane Nitta was representing Bill Arakaki (got to see both he and coach Blanche at the KSA games, Sunday) for the Department of Education, and almost all of the Parks and Recreation guys were in attendance.
Mahalo to coach William Trugillo for keeping everyone up-to-date on the AYSO playoffs. It’s definitely exciting to watch.
Ernie Domingo had his gold medal, the team cap and even a baseball bat at breakfast, Thursday at Wal-Mart. Actually, he, Peter Rayno (he gets to emcee the Kaua‘i High School Class of ‘58 reunion this weekend), Winkie Hashimoto, and the Hekili softball team earned the gold medal at the Hunts Men Senior Games in St. George, Utah over the weekend. Ernie was smart, though … he has everything (but the bat) on his cell phone, and even showed it off to some Utah visitors who were breakfasting at Wal-Mart.
OK, ‘nuff said … time to go check out the goodies at the Seniors Craft Fair at the convention hall. You need to go early, or the good stuff gets wiped out.
